Restoring a property with period skirting boards and mouldings

September 26, 2016

A property survey found that period features add value to houses and make them easier to sell. Most of the matching features like skirting boards and mouldings are virtually impossible to find. Luckily, that’s what we specialise in at Champion Timber.

We have the largest range of softwood, hardwood and MDF skirting boards and mouldings in the South East. When you’re restoring or renovating a period property, a simple way to give it a simple enhancement is to replace old skirting boards that are tired and worn.

Machine matching skirting boards

As well as stocking our own extensive range of skirtings and mouldings, we offer bespoke profile matching. If you bring us a small sample of your period skirting boards we are able to machine match them in your choice of soft or hardwood.

We can also create custom profile designs. All we would need to create your design is an accurate drawing with precise measurements and we can make an exact match at our Edenbridge Mill. This machine matching works great on skirting boards and can be extended onto any other required timber mouldings.

Machined products will be available for collection from our New Malden branch within 4 working days. Please allow slightly longer for delivery or collection from another branch.

Environmentally sustainable and quality timber

Our skirting boards, similar to all our timber products, are manufactured using FSC certified timber from sustainable forests.

The quality of our mouldings and skirting boards is second to none. You’ll find our products have a lot fewer, and a lot less, knots than other timber merchants’ products. Also, you may see that the grain is a lot tighter, making the wood easier to work band finish.

Period timber mouldings

In addition to our range of skirting boards we have a wide range of period and contemporary timber mouldings. Timber architraves, beading, dados and handrails are just some of the products on offer in our period moulding catalogues. Download our timber mouldings brochure here.
