About Our Planed Fence Posts

What Planed Fence Posts does Champion Timber offer?

All of our Planed Fence Posts are manufactured from high-quality Redwood timber, not Whitewood timber to allow the treatment to penetrate deeper into the wood. The Planed Fence Posts are all pressure preservative treated to UC4 (suitable to be buried in the ground) with the smooth planed surface for a professional finish.

The posts all come with a 15-year guarantee against rot, decay and insect attack when in ground contact ensuring long life as pressure preservative treated to BS5589 section 6. If concreting posts into the ground allow 0.6m extra than the height of the panel. Ideal for featheredge fencing, longer runs, especially in exposed areas. Also suitable as bearers for sheds.

How deep should Planed Fence Posts be in the ground?

The minimum depth that you should dig your fence post holes for panel sections is 2 feet. A general formula is to dig the holes one-third to one-half of the post's aboveground height. The deeper you dig the holes, the more stability your fence has, but you must also purchase longer posts.
