Should Garden Gates swing in or out?

A pedestrian gate should always swing inward toward private space, not outward toward public space. The hinges can be placed on either side of a single gate. If the Garden Gate will swing into a sloping hillside, mount the hinges on the downhill post.

What is the best wood for Garden Gates?

Redwood makes for a great value wooden Garden Gates. It is moderately hard timber with red-brown heartwood that can match or complement a majority of an existing garden or perimeter fence. It is popular but needs to be treated more often than other woods to maintain its strength and appearance, luckily our range of treated Timber Gates are all pressure-preservative treated with Tanalith-E and therefore do not require any more treatment!
