About Our Garden Gates

What does Champion Timber offer?

From stock we can offer a wide range of styles and sizes of different garden gates, plus a range of pressure treated gates that are immune to insect attack, rot and decay. In addition, we also have one of the largest choices of garden-gate-related ironmongery in order to provide you with the decorative details that you need as well as security features such as locks, hasp and staples, springs and so much more!

Should fence gates swing in or out?

A gate should always swing inward toward private space, not outward toward public space. The hinges can be placed on either side of a single gate. If the gate will swing into a sloping hillside, mount the hinges on the downhill post.

What is the best wood for a garden gate?

Redwood. Redwood makes for a great value wooden gate. It is a moderately hard timber with red-brown heartwood that can match or complement a majority of an existing garden or perimeter fences. It is popular but needs to be treated more often than other woods to maintain its strength and appearance, luckily our range of treated gates are all pressure-preservative treated with Tanalith-E and therefore do not require any more treatment!
