A Garden Gates should always swing inward toward private space, not outward toward public space. The hinges can be placed on either side of a single gate. If the Garden Gate will swing into a sloping hillside, mount the hinges on the downhill post.
What is the best wood for a Garden Gates?
Redwood. Redwood makes for a great value wooden Garden Gates. It is a moderately hard timber with red-brown heartwood that can match or complement a majority of an existing garden or perimeter fences. It is popular but needs to be treated more often than other woods to maintain its strength and appearance, luckily our range of treated Garden Gates are all pressure-preservative treated with Tanalith-E and therefore do not require any more treatment!
This selection of products would also work perfectly as heavy duty wooden driveway gates and would serve as a lot more natural alternative to traditional metal gates.
