About Our Sawn Fence Posts

What Sawn Fence Posts does Champion Timber offer?

All of our Sawn Fence Posts are treated to UC4, this means that they are suitable for ground contact. Champion Timber only use Redwood timber, not Whitewood timber to allow the treatment to penetrate deeper into the wood so we can offer: a 15-year guarantee against rot, decay and insect attack when in ground contact ensuring long life as pressure preservative treated to BS5589 section 6. This range of posts is all sawn with square edges and available in a range of lengths, and widths.

How deep should Sawn Fence Posts be in the ground?

The minimum depth that you should dig your fence post holes for panel sections is 2 feet. A general formula is to dig the holes one-third to one-half of the post's aboveground height. The deeper you dig the holes, the more stability your fence has, but you must also purchase longer posts.
