About Our Glazing Beading
What Is A Glazing Beading?
Glazing beading is a narrow timber moulding used within a window or door sash to secure the glass unit in place. They are fitted around the perimeter of the glazing to hold the glass firmly against the rebate within the frame or sash, preventing movement and ensuring a tight and stable fit.
What Timber Glazing Beads Does Champion Timber Offer?
Glass Bead - Our standard glazing bead is available in 3 sizes & profiles to fit non-fire doors.
Firecheck Bead - Used as a part of fire-rated glazing systems to secure fire-resistant glass within timber frame, to potentially achieve a 30 minute resistance.
What Timber Species Are Used To Make The Glazing Beads At Champion Timber?
Redwood Pine - A cost-effective softwood with a smooth finish, it allows for straightforward cutting and installation on site. Its lightweight nature makes handling easier during fitting, while the uniform surface is ready to be primed, painted or stained as required.
Dark Hardwood - Sourced and machined by ourselves, the joinery grade dark hardwood is denser and more stable than softwood, ensuring crisp cuts for clean and sharp moulding profiles. It is machined to a super smooth finish, ready to paint or stain for easier on-site preparation.
Oak Hardwood - A premium hardwood timber known for its strength, durability and natural resistance to wear. Its dense structure allows for precise machining, producing clean and well-defined mouldings that can be oiled, stained or varnished to suit a range of interior styles.
