About Our Handrails and Baserails

What are Handrails and Baserails?

A handrail is a rail that is designed to be grasped by the hand so as to provide stability or support. Handrails are commonly used while ascending or descending stairways and also for decorative use on decking and are typically supported by posts or mounted directly to walls. A baserail is a small but important part of the design process though and can add the perfect touch to your stairs or decking. Not only do they add a finishing touch, but they are also an essential safety feature that ensures that your stair spindles are securely held in position.

What Handrails and Baserails does Champion Timber offer?

We stock an excellent choice of both hardwood (Sapele) and softwood (Pine) handrails that are the perfect match for your new decking area.

Our hardwood decking Handrails and Baserails are naturally durable and the best commercial-grade available meaning they are virtually free of knots and defects. Plus our hardwood decking Handrails and Baserails are highly resistant to insect attack and decay and suitable for all external and internal applications.

Our softwood decking handrails and base rails are also of supremely high quality and are pressure treated for longer life. Plus the timber for these softwood decking handrails and base rails is produced from slow-grown redwood which is then kiln-dried to help reduce the risk of splitting or twisting.
