About Our External Hardwood Plywood

What is Hardwood Plywood for External Use?

Exterior plywood is where the wood is bound together using water-resistant glues. Because of this, and unlike Marine Plywood, it is best suited for outdoor construction due to its waterproof features. It is the most common bonding type of plywood available.

Use on all applications demanding full external classification compliance

Structural AND External performance (3.6 and 5.5mm, not structural)

Certified to EN636-3S (3.6 and 5.5mm certified to EN636-3G) and EN314-2 class 3

General construction, flooring, domestic or commercial roofs and joinery

EN636 - 3 (Class 3) Defines that the product is made from timber that is durable (hardwood throughout) and is suitable for all exterior applications including frequent wetting. Prolonged use in an external application would require boards to be covered or decorated.

The final part of EN636 deals with its suitability for structural use. All the plywood we stock of a thickness 9mm or over is suitable for structural use and is defined by the addition of the letter "S". Boards below 9mm show the letter "G" in their description and are only suitable for General use (non-structural)
